Life curves of Bulat Utemuratov

Bulat Utemuratov is a known figure, but not particularly public until recently. His name appears in the ratings of the richest and most influential people in Kazakhstan, but he did not seek to get into the lens of journalists’ cameras. His first big interview with a detailed story about the stages of his life Utemuratov gave to the reputable financial magazine Bloomberg Market only in 2013. But the interest in the activities of a businessman and benefactor is constantly growing, so the launching of the website, which contains relevant materials and articles about Bulat Utemuratov, his projects and charity foundation, is quite logical.

From teacher to diplomat

The biography of Bulat Utemuratov can be easily considered as a self-made one. Having started his career as a Professor of Economics in one of the universities of Almaty, he became an official of the State Committee of Foreign Economic Relations, and then he headed the Trading House of Kazakhstan in Austria. The challenges of time – that is what the politicians and businessmen of that period had to cope with. The difficult economic situation in the country stimulated them and encouraged to stay tough. In many respects owing to the perseverance and persistence of the reformers of the 1990s, Kazakhstan was able to establish strong trade and diplomatic relations with Western partners.

Being the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Switzerland, Bulat Utemuratov held active negotiations with representatives of the Geneva business community. The result of this work was the fruitful collaboration with such influential financial institutions as CreditSuisse and UBS.

The media repeatedly reported that Bulat Utemuratov is close to Nursultan Nazarbayev and is included in a narrow circle of his proxies. This is not surprising since the businessman worked in the office of the President in the rank of his personal assistant and advisor for many years. Bulat Utemuratov was awarded several orders, “Казакстан Республикасынын Тұңғыш Президентi - Елбасы Нурсултан Назарбаев” (The First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev) among them.

From businessman to the benefactor

According to Bulat Utemuratov, he earned his first million dollars on the resale of metals of domestic producers in the European market. The profit from the business was not stored in suitcases but was invested in new projects, which enabled Utemuratov to try his hand as various fields of activity.
On the day of the bike ride, there are themed entertainment zones, fairs and play parks working within the hotel grounds. At the end of the race, an auction is traditionally announced. All the collected funds go to procure necessary equipment for children's medical institutions, perinatal and rehabilitation centers.
